Usually I don’t care how you throw them on the register (unless you throw the clothes on another register and expect me to go over there and grab them… that’s just mean, have some respect), but this one time, a woman complained about the way I put the clothes in the bag. A couple of things to consider:

1. we have to put the items in the smallest bag possible. the environment, maybe you’ve heard of it. (actually I think plastic bags shouldn’t be available anywhere, anymore. there are alternatives)

2. the moment you hold the bag, the clothes will sink to a messy pile, no matter how I folded them. think about it.

Now, this woman was returning something and had a couple of extra items. She brought the original bag with her and it was already a big bag, the only one bigger is twice its size and only used for big, hard to fold things, like coats or when you have 40 pieces of clothing… But then it gets really heavy so most people prefer two bags so they can distribute the weight. So I put everything in the original bag and as I put the last pieces of clothing in there, she made a painful face and said “can’t you give me two bags?”… Instead of saying what I thought (“polar bears are dying, you know”), I politely told her the store policy. All she said was “yes, well, I think you aren’t putting the clothes in there very nicely. Besides, that was MY bag!” and she strutted off.

Yes, well, I think you’re ridiculous. And that was actually OUR bag, you just got it for free. Good day to you, too.
